No puppies were harmed in the making of this blog. More than a few cats, however, have been stalked by a camera-wielding mage intent on catching them being cute.
No! No it is not cute! It is evil.
I'm having bee issues this week. Osama Bee Laden is holed up in my attic, with a band of terror bees. They come out for raids in my bathroom and closet area. It is not true that if you fight them up there you will not have to fight them down here. Now they've moved into my dining room.
I even called Crusader pest control (seriously!) but they're no help.

Honey bees? Well, here is what you do, find out where they are swarming in the attic, you should be able to see it well. If they are in the wall it may be a bit more difficult. (make sure they are honey bees before you attempt this) Get a large coffee can and put in some cut burlap pieces, and a few fistfuls of sawdust. Use a pair of vice grips or channel locks for a holder cause the can will get hot. We now set the material in the can on fire. Once it has been burning a bit, smother the fire out till nothing but smoke comes out.
Set smoldering can in the attic (might want to do this at night so they are more docile, but if you use a flashlight, don't hold the flash light or stand near it. Bees go in the direction of the light.) Now find the swarm, and slowly move the can back and forth over the bees so they calm down enough for you to take a paint brush and move the bees around till you can find the queen. put the queen in a large box and the bees will follow. Cover with a lid and take to animal control.
Or if you want the easy way, put a large cardboard box near the bees in the attic, spray the INSIDE of the box heavily with Lemon Pledge (furniture polish) and wait a couple of hours. The bees will move into the box. Cover with a lid and take to animal control. Or if you can swipe a couple of bee supers from a neighbor you can move them in there and have honey next year! ;)
Hope this helps!
BTW: Lemon Pledge trick works during the day time.

Rob, thanks for the detailed bee wrestling info but I think I'll call you if I have to deal with that!
